A drinking contest at what appears to be a local pub in Molo, Kenya, has allegedly turned deadly after a man reportedly collapsed after drinking a full 750ml bottle of alcohol.
A video circulating on social media shows the man drinking directly from the bottle as several people around him cheer and encourage him to finish the drink.
The man, who has been identified as Sam Dugu, reportedly died hours after taking part in an alcohol drinking contest in Molo, Nakuru County.
According to reports circulating online, Dugu had been drinking with friends at the entertainment joint before leaving the premises, when he was later reportedly found dead under unclear circumstances.
The cause of death has not been established, and the circumstances surrounding his death have not been independently confirmed.
A postmortem examination is expected to help establish the cause of death.
In the video, people around the man can be heard encouraging him to continue drinking as others cheer from the background.
One person is heard saying, “Asipo maliza atalipa.” Another says, “Mzinga amalize peke yake.”
A different voice is heard saying, “Anamaliza na anazima.”
The footage has sparked concern and debate on X, with users questioning the dangers of drinking large amounts of alcohol within a short period.
Musa Musamali commented, “750 ml of vodka definitely overwhelms the liver’s capacity to process that larger amount at once. Just know your liver has a certain amount or limit of alcohol it can safely process per hour or per day.”
Morbid Kenyan wrote, “Committing suicide yet having fun. Wow.”

Alcohol Contest Leads to Death
The authorities or doctors are likely to release details of the situation relating to the death and any findings from the postmortem examination.
