The president of Tanzania, Samia Suluhu, has taken a 90-day break from office in order to mourn her late husband, Hafidh Ameir, who died days ago. According to a statement on September 10, 2026, Chief Secretary Moses Kulisuka confirmed that while Samia is away, her duties will be handled by her vice president, Deogratius Ndejembi.
