President William Ruto has received a big boost after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) declared two UDA candidates without elections.

IEBC has officially declared a no contest for Members of the County Assembly (MCA) for Tembelio and Metkei Wards in the upcoming by-elections scheduled for November 27, 2025.

In a gazette notice, IEBC Chairperson Erastus Edung Ethekon confirmed that Reuben Kigen Tobosei was declared elected for Tembelio Ward in Moiben Constituency, Uasin Gishu County.

Similarly, Philip Kipkosgei Kipruto was declared elected for Metkei Ward in Keiyo South Constituency, Elgeyo Marakwet County.

“IN EXERCISE of the powers conferred by Articles 88 (4) and 177 (1) (a) of the Constitution, section 4 of the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission Act, Section 13 (3), 19 of the Elections Act, 2011 and Part III, VIII and IX and Regulation 51 (2), (4) and (5) and 53 of the Elections (General) Regulations, 2012, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission makes a declaration of no contest and the persons listed in the 7th and 8th Columns,” read part of the gazette notice dated October 29.

UDA Party Celebrates

UDA Party has celebrated the election of the two leaders unopposed ahead of the by-election.

In a statement on November 1, the UDA party announced that candidates Reuben Kigen Tobosei and Philip Kipkosgei Kiprutto have been duly elected unopposed.

UDA congratulated the two leaders on their election and early victory.

“Congratulations to the UDA Party and the newly elected leaders on this early victory,” UDA said.
