What began as a night of celebration for Cecilia Achieng, who recently graduated and a rising TikTok Star, together with her friends Sally and Ronald, ended in tragedy on the night of November 7, 2025, in Ruiru, Kiambu County.
The three friends were having fun when Ronald ordered an online cab to pick Cecilia and drive her home in Juja.
Patrick Muthami, the driver, said he had been instructed to wait for two girls, but only one, Cecilia, was travelling.
“Approaching were two girls who appeared intoxicated,” Muthami told the reporter.
When attempts to process the payment through Cecilia’s phone failed, Ronald paid the fare as the driver wanted to just drop her at her home with no chaos.
However, along the way, Cecilia’s behaviour worsened, forcing the driver to call Ronald and Sally to come along as he couldn’t proceed with the journey, assuming Cecilia would calm down after seeing familiar faces.
Ronald asked the driver to put her on call, but she adamantly refused to talk to him.
Moments later, Muthami said he pulled up at Ruiru Flyover when Cecilia insisted on alighting the vehicle.
“She stepped out and started walking along the line of the pedestrian path, seemingly attempting to find her way back to the location of her friends.” He told the reporter
She was tragically hit by a vehicle and died on the spot.

Her Last Post
The last TikTok that Cecilia made was on October 17, where she posted her pictures while dancing and smiling at a trending song.
She was so lively.

Ruiru police have initiated investigations into the case, including the events that preceded her demise.
Messages of shock and grief have since poured into the Cecilia TikTok page by fans and friends.” You were just starting to shine, one of the followers wrote. “Rest easy, queen.”
