The entertainment fraternity is grieving the untimely passing of TikTok sensation Cecilia Achieng, popularly known as Cess, who passed on a few minutes after alighting from an online taxi in Ruiru, Kenya, Kiambu County.
According to witnesses, the 23-year-old content creator, who was trying to cross the Thika Superhighway while intoxicated, was hit by a speeding vehicle on Sunday night.
One eyewitness said,” She had just stepped out of a ride-hailing car and was crossing the road when a vehicle came from nowhere and hit her down.”
The incident has been investigated by the police, who confirm that the driver of the vehicle fled the scene but has since been tracked down.
Ruiru Sub-County Police Commander Paul Maina said,” We’re putting together the CCTV footage to find out exactly what happened.
Achieng, a recent graduate from Mount Kenya University, had gained popularity online because of her lively skits and inspirational work.
Her final TikTok video, which was shared on October 17, becomes a haunting reminder of her bright personality.

Family and Fans Mourn Her Death
Her family expressed deep grief, describing her as”a shining light gone too soon.” Her cousin wrote on the internet, “I have loved you ever since you came into this world.
I have supported everything you did. Go well, my love.”

The tragedy has sparked off controversy on the safety of pedestrians on the Thika Superhighway, which has a record of accidents that have claimed so many lives.
