Amason Kingi’s Bodyguard Dies

Share

Senate Speaker Amason Kingi has mourned the death of his bodyguard, Corporal John Lwane Lumumba.

In an emotional statement, Kingi said Lumumba’s death was sudden and devastating, noting that they had shared light moments shortly before the tragedy.

“Gone too soon, my young brother. The cruel hand of death has snatched you so fast. One minute we were walking and chatting jovially, and the next minute I was informed that you were no more,” Kingi said.

Kingi described him as family and a loyal companion whose loss has deeply shaken him.

The Speaker praised the late corporal for his dedication, humility, and professionalism, saying Lumumba was more than just a security officer.

“To me, you were not just a bodyguard; you were family. I admired your discipline, loyalty and commitment to duty,” he said.

Kingi extended his condolences to Lumumba’s family, friends, and colleagues in the security services, urging them to find strength during the difficult period.

“May God grant your family the strength to bear this painful loss, and may your soul rest in eternal peace,” he added.

Amason Kingi Dies

This comes after Kingi lost his father, Mzee Kingi Mwaruwa, in February 2025.

Kingi shared memories of the good times they spent together in December 2024 and hailed his father for the sacrifices he made to shape him into the person he is today.

“Since I attained adulthood, I don’t remember ever dancing with you, Dad. Not until the 25th of December 2024, during Christmas at Mjanaheri village, when, for the very first time, we danced, danced, and danced together until sunset. Your face beamed with joy. We were not just celebrating Christmas but giving thanks to the Almighty for your remarkable recovery after years of battling many ailments. I didn’t know that dance would be the first and last with you, Dad,” he said.
