Kenya Airways, popularly known as ‘The Pride of Africa’, has forged a fresh strategic partnership in a bid to deepen air connectivity on the African continent.
The country’s flag carrier announced a major interline partnership deal with CemAir, a move that is a step in the right direction in a bid to deepen regional and continental air travel networks.
The partnership agreement, which was unveiled in Nairobi on March 18, 2026, is likely to provide more travel opportunities for travelers across the African continent.
In a statement, Kenya Airways said that the partnership will help travelers access a more integrated network of travel to several destinations.
The partnership will enable travelers to connect to a number of major South African cities, such as Johannesburg and Cape Town.
Under the partnership, Kenya Airways passengers will be able to access CemAir’s network of domestic and regional routes out of Johannesburg.
This will include key routes to Bloemfontein, Hoedspruit, and Kimberley.
Passengers will also be able to access the wider regional network to Maun, Victoria Falls, and Harare.
On the other hand, CemAir passengers will be able to access Kenya Airways’ extensive network of African routes.
This will include 15 destinations on the African continent. These will include key routes to Dar es Salaam, Addis Ababa, Entebbe, Accra, and Abidjan.
The airlines said that the partnership will provide passengers with single tickets and flight connections.
This will be a major convenience to passengers flying to multiple destinations on the African continent.

Kenya Airways’ Acting Group Managing Director and CEO George Kamal underscored the importance of the agreement in advancing the airline’s broader vision.
“We are pleased to partner with CemAir to further expand our network and offer our customers more seamless travel options across the continent,” he said.
“This collaboration reflects our continued commitment to connecting Africa’s people, cultures, and markets, while creating opportunities that support the growth and prosperity of the regions we serve,” Kamal added.
On his part, CemAir Chief Executive Officer Miles van der Molen described the deal as a natural progression of an existing relationship.
“We are delighted to be upgrading our longstanding relationship with Kenya Airways to a strategic partnership,” he stated.
“Our combined networks and strengths create a solid foundation for future growth and connectivity across the continent and beyond, and we look forward to deepening this collaboration for the benefit of our customers,” Molen stated.

Currently, Kenya Airways operates three flights a day to Johannesburg and nine flights a week to Cape Town from Nairobi.
This gives the airline a strong foundation for the newly enhanced routes. The airline added that this would be instrumental in providing feed to the interlines.
This partnership is part of the long-term strategy of Kenya Airways, which is based on reaching new markets through alliances and partnerships and not solely relying on direct flights.
The airline believes that by partnering with CemAir, which is strong in the regions of South Africa, it will be able to provide greater value and a greater experience for passengers.
