The Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) has stepped up its probe into the suspected irregular procurement of an emergency fuel cargo by the Ministry of Energy and Petroleum, involving One Petroleum Limited.
The DCI confirmed that it has recorded statements from possible witnesses and several persons of interest, including senior government officials and executives of One Petroleum Limited.
The agency has also summoned executives from Oryx Energy Limited to provide statements.
Investigators are actively working with other government agencies and investigative bodies abroad.
“Under the Mutual Legal Assistance (MLA) program to establish all relevant facts surrounding this matter,” the DCI stated.
This collaboration aims to uncover the full scope of the alleged irregularities.
DCI Director J.K. Marete assured the public that the agency is handling the probe with urgency and professionalism.
“We are doing everything possible to deal with this matter expeditiously and will forward the file to the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) in due course,” the statement read.

“Those found culpable will be dealt with firmly in accordance with the law, regardless of their positions, including the directors of the companies involved,” the DCI stressed.
The statement also clarified that resignation does not absolve anyone of criminal responsibility, urging all persons of interest to cooperate fully.
This investigation highlights the government’s commitment to fighting corruption and safeguarding public resources.

“This investigation is being conducted with the highest level of professionalism, transparency, and urgency it deserves,” the DCI emphasized.
As the probe continues, the public awaits the submission of the investigation file to the ODPP, which will determine the next steps, including potential prosecutions.
