Detectives Investigate Mysterious Deaths of Police Officer and Others in Nakuru, Baringo and Nairobi

Authorities are investigating a series of incidents reported in different parts of the country, including Nakuru, Baringo, and Nairobi.

The cases involve the sudden death of a police officer, a suspected domestic violence killing, and a house fire that claimed the life of a young child.

A police officer was on April 24, 2026, found dead at her home in Mangu area, Rongai Sub-County, Nakuru County.

Corporal Veronica Ondari, who was attached to the Bomet Traffic Base, was discovered lifeless on her bed, according to police and family reports.

Officers from Menengai Police Station, alongside detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) in Rongai, visited the scene and confirmed that there were no visible injuries on her body.

Health History Under Review

Preliminary findings suggest that the officer may have been suffering from heart-related complications and had previously sought medical attention for the condition.

The body was transferred to Nakuru Provincial General Hospital Mortuary for preservation and postmortem examination. Investigations are ongoing.

Manhunt Launched After Woman Killed in Suspected Domestic Violence in Baringo

In a separate incident in Baringo County, police have launched a manhunt for a suspect following the death of a 36-year-old woman in Kolowa Sub-County.

The incident was reported on April 24, 2026.

Police said the body of Cheposetem Polis was found outside her house with visible injuries on her back.

Investigators believe the victim had returned home the previous night at around 9:00 pm in the company of her husband. Both are reported to have been intoxicated at the time.

Police suspect the husband may have assaulted her, leading to her death. He remains at large.

Evidence Recovered at Scene

An axe suspected to have been used in the attack was recovered at the compound and taken in as evidence. Crime Scene Investigation (CSI) officers documented and processed the scene.

The body was moved to Kabarnet Referral Hospital Mortuary pending postmortem examination.

Police said efforts are ongoing to trace and arrest the suspect.

Child Dies in Devastating Kayole House Fire

In Nairobi’s Kayole area, a tragic fire incident claimed the life of a three-year-old child after a house was destroyed.

According to police, the fire started on the night of April 24, 2026, at around 11:04 pm in the Sulami area within Kayole Sub-County.

Firefighters and police officers responded to the distress call and arrived at the scene, where they found a house engulfed in flames.

With help from members of the public, the fire was eventually contained, but not before causing severe destruction.

Child Dies in Blaze

Tragically, a three-year-old boy, the son of the homeowner, died in the fire.

Property of unknown value was also destroyed.

The child’s body was taken to Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital Mortuary awaiting postmortem examination.

Police have since launched investigations to establish the cause of the fire.

Authorities Urge Vigilance

Police have urged members of the public to report emergencies promptly and remain vigilant to prevent similar tragedies.
