The Kenya Civil Aviation Authority (KCAA) has announced a job opportunity for the position of Director General, inviting qualified Kenyan citizens to apply for the top leadership role.
The vacancy notice, issued under the Ministry of Roads and Transport through the State Department for Aviation and Aerospace Development, outlines the responsibilities, qualifications, and application process for the role.
According to the notice dated April 25, 2026, the Director General will report directly to the Board of Directors and will be responsible for the day-to-day management of the Authority.
“This position will be responsible to the Board for the day-to-day management and coordination of the execution of functions of the Authority in line with the Civil Aviation Act (CAP 394),” read part of the notice.
Among the key duties listed are providing leadership to the Authority, ensuring aviation safety and security, coordinating aviation development programs, and managing resources efficiently.
The successful candidate will also be tasked with executing board-approved policies, strengthening aviation safety oversight, and collaborating with both local and international aviation stakeholders.

The role carries wide-ranging responsibilities aimed at strengthening Kenya’s aviation sector.
The Director General will also lead corporate communication strategies and oversee implementation of performance management systems within the Authority.
KCAA stated that applicants must meet strict academic and professional requirements to qualify for the role.

Applicants are also expected to demonstrate knowledge of aviation laws, including the Civil Aviation Act (CAP 394), public finance regulations, procurement laws, and governance requirements for state corporations.

The notice further indicated that the successful candidate will serve a four-year term, renewable once based on performance and Board recommendation.
