FIFA Responds to Fan Backlash With Cheaper Limited Tickets for 2026 World Cup

FIFA has on Tuesday, December 16, 2025, introduced a small number of $60 “Supporter Entry Tier” tickets for every match of the tournament, including the final.

FIFA, the world governing body of football, announced in a statement that it had established a limited “Supporter Entry Tier” that would cost $60 for each of the 104 games, including the championship game.

FIFA said that this was designed to further support travelling fans following their national teams across the tournament

Each participating team will receive 8% of the available tickets for each game they play, and the new pricing category will be included in the distribution of tickets by the associations.

10% of that 8% allotment, or 1.6% of all available tickets when accounting for both sets of supporters, will go toward the new pricing tier, known as the entry tier.

That translates to slightly more than 1,000 tickets per game at that price point, divided equally between fans of both teams, given the size of the majority of 2026 World Cup stadiums.

This comes just a week after the Fan group Football Supporters Europe (FSE), called prices “extortionate” and “astronomical”, responded by saying FIFA was offering too little.

“While we welcome FIFA’s seeming recognition of the damage its original plans were to cause, the revisions do not go far enough,” FSE said in a statement on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.

Following the launch of the $60 tickets, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer urged FIFA to further reduce ticket prices on Tuesday night.

In a statement, he said, “I welcome FIFA’s announcement of some lower-priced supporters tickets. But as someone who used to save up for England tickets, I urge FIFA to do more to make tickets more affordable so that the World Cup doesn’t lose touch with the true fans who make the game so special.”

The draw for tickets of all prices in the first round of sales will take place on Tuesday, January 13.
