President William Ruto’s Cabinet Secretary has leaked details of the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education (KCSE) results, revealing the number of candidates who attained a C+ grade and above.
In a statement dated Friday, December 9, 2026, Gender Cabinet Secretary Hannah Wendot Cheptumo disclosed that out of the 993,000 candidates who sat the examinations, 50 per cent were girls, reflecting sustained progress in gender parity in education. She further revealed that 270,000 candidates attained a C+ grade and above, qualifying them for direct university entry.
“I take note of the update by H.E. the President @WilliamsRuto at Eldoret State Lodge, Uasin Gishu County, ahead of the release of the 2025 KCSE examinations. The data is encouraging: out of the 993,000 candidates who sat the examinations, 50 per cent were girls, reflecting sustained progress in gender parity in education. Further, 270,000 candidates attained a C+ and above, qualifying for direct university entry,” read the statement.
CS Cheptumo Leaks KCSE Results Examination
The CS disclosed the results some minutes before Julius Ogamba released the results.
She further stated that these outcomes reaffirm the importance of deliberate, gender-responsive education policies and continued collaboration across government to ensure equitable access, retention and success for all learners.
The Gender CS stated that her Ministry remains committed to advancing equality of opportunity and empowering every child to realise their full potential.

2025 candidates can check their results online, by following these steps:
- Visit the KNEC KCSE Checker portal on your device.
- Enter your index number and full registered name.
- Click the Submit button.
A detailed breakdown of your results will appear in a few seconds, depending on your internet speed.
How to Check KCSE Results for The Whole School
School principals can access the KCSE results for all candidates in their school by following these steps:
- Visit the KNEC online portal.
- Log in using the username and password provided during registration. If you are new, click on the Registration tab to create an account.
- Once logged in, locate the tab labelled “Form Index”.
- Enter the index number of the first candidate in the “From Index” box.
- Enter the index number of the last candidate in the “To Index” box.

- Click View Report to load all result slips.
- To save the slips, click on the Export tab and select your preferred format, either Word or PDF.
- You can then print the slips for your records.
