The Kenya Meteorological Department has released its weekly outlook for January 13th to 19th, 2026, warning of a significant temperature divide across the country.

According to the message from the department, most regions are set to remain predominantly sunny and dry and therefore, Kenyans should prepare for high daytime heat and biting cold at night.

“Mainly sunny and dry conditions are expected over several parts of the country. However, occasional rainfall may occur over a few areas, particularly the Highlands East and West of the Rift Valley, the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Coastal region, and the South-eastern lowlands,” Kenya MET said.

Hot Days and Limited Rain

According to the forecast, daytime maximum temperatures are expected to soar above 30°C in several regions.

Residents in the Coast, North-eastern, and North-western Kenya—as well as parts of the South-eastern lowlands, the Rift Valley, and Western Kenya—should brace for particularly hot conditions.
