ODM Politician Removed from Party Position

Share

Saboti Member of Parliament Caleb Amisi has been removed from the ODM party National Election Committee (NEC).

Speaking during an interview at Radio Generation on Wednesday, February 11,  Amisi confirmed that he has been removed from the Committee.

Amisi said he has received a letter from NEC removing him from NEC, citing that he was holding two positions in the Party.

He stated that ODM claimed that he is the County Chair and he holds the position of ODM Deputy Organising Secretary at the same time.

“What people are not aware of is that they have already kicked me out. I have a letter here sent from the NEC. The reason they say is that I hold two positions. They claim that I am a county chair and at the same time I hold the position of ODM Deputy Organising Secretary,” he stated.

This followed widespread letters on social media alleging that he had been kicked out of the party position.

Amisi criticized ODM party leader Oburu Oginga and other party officials for failing to follow the procedure during his removal.

He claimed that a letter was written from Bondo and sent to him via WhatsApp informing him about the decision.

Following the Procedure

Amisi explained that the NEC should have met, agree and voted before he was officially removed from the Committee.

Besides, Amisi said he should be given the right to reply and a hearing after the vote.

“For you to remove a NEC member there are procedures. You do not just write letters from Bondo and send it on whatsapp. The NEC must meet , they must agree or by a vote that you are supposed to leave and you are supposed be given a right of reply, there must be a hearing,” he added.

Caleb Amisi Explains Holding Two Positions

Amisi said he took over the Deputy organising secretary after being requested by late Raila Odinga when the holder left the party.

He claimed that his appointment was passed by the same committee even though he was already a county chairperson.

“Raila called me and asked if I was willing to fill the position, and I accepted, and the committee passed. At that time I was already the chairman of the county,” Amisi said.
