The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has arrested and arraigned a senior revenue official attached to the Kisumu County government over allegations of bribery.
According to the report by the EACC, Mr. Francis Muga Odhiambo, the officer in charge of the busy Kisumu Bus Park, was apprehended on February 9, 2026, following a targeted sting operation by EACC detectives.
Odhiambo appeared before the Kisumu Anti-Corruption Court on Tuesday, February 10, 2026, where he faced formal charges of soliciting and receiving a bribe.
The prosecution alleged that the officer demanded Ksh 18,500 from a matatu operator plying the Kisumu-Kisii route.
“He was arraigned before the Kisumu Anti-Corruption Court on 10th February 2026, where he was charged with soliciting and receiving a bribe of Kes10,000. The accused pleaded not guilty to the charges and was released on a cash bail of Kes20,000 or an alternative bond of Kes50,000,” part of the EACC statement read.

The report added, “The charges follow investigations conducted by the Commission, which established that Mr. Odhiambo allegedly solicited a bribe of Kes18,500 from a businessman operating a matatu between Kisumu and Kisii.”
According to EACC investigations, the revenue officer allegedly used intimidation tactics to pressure the businessman.
The report further stated that the officer is accused of threatening to pursue fabricated charges against the complainant unless the bribe was paid.
Odhiambo was later arrested upon receiving Ksh10,000 as part payment.
