Share

The Department of Culture and Tourism Abu Dhabi (DCT Abu Dhabi) has formally directed hotel establishments across the emirate to extend the stay of guests unable to travel due to circumstances beyond their control.

In an official notice dated February 28, 2026 (Ref: DCT-LRCD-560-2026), addressed to Hotel Establishments General Managers, the authority cited ongoing travel disruptions as the reason for the directive.

Under the subject line, Extension of Guests’ Stay Due to Travel Restrictions, the department outlined clear instructions to hotels regarding affected visitors who have reached their check-out dates but cannot depart.

The notice states:

“In light of the current circumstances and given that some guests have reached their check-out date but are unable to travel for reasons beyond their control, you are kindly requested to extend their stay until they can depart.”

The directive comes amid escalating regional tensions and international travel uncertainties that have disrupted flight schedules and cross-border movement in parts of the Middle East.

With some airspaces affected and airlines adjusting operations, travelers in transit hubs such as Abu Dhabi have found themselves unable to proceed with their journeys.

Hotels have been instructed to submit all related invoices to the designated email address provided in the circular.
