A building has collapsed in the Blue Estate area in Shauri Moyo in Nairobi, prompting an emergency response operation following fears that some people might have been trapped in the wreckage.
Emergency services rushed to the scene immediately after the incident occurred.

According to authorities, the building collapsed near areas that had been demolished on riparian land in the densely populated region.

“A building has collapsed in the Blue Estate area in Shauri Moyo, adjacent to structures that were being demolished on riparian land,” said the Kenya Red Cross in their update on the situation.

Emergency responders, including volunteers and disaster teams, immediately launched search and rescue operations shortly after the collapse was reported.
Officials said initial information indicates several occupants were inside the structure at the time of the incident.
“Initial reports indicate that 10 people were inside the building at the time of the collapse. Two managed to escape by jumping out,” the Kenya Red Cross said in an update.
Rescue teams confirmed that at least two individuals were pulled from the debris and rushed to Kenyatta National Hospital for treatment as medics assessed their injuries.
“Two people have been rescued and taken to Kenyatta National Hospital for medical attention. Six people remain unaccounted for,” the humanitarian agency reported.

First aid responders have been stationed at the scene to assist survivors and support ongoing rescue operations.
“First aid has been provided at the scene by Kenya Red Cross as search and rescue efforts continue,” the organization said, noting that teams remain on the ground working to locate those still missing.
