A veteran broadcaster, Janet Mbugua, has resigned from Nation Media Group to bring an end to her association with the popular morning talk show “Fixing the Nation.”
This news broke out during a live broadcast on April 17, 2026, when she appeared before the public eye for the last time on the show.
The exit was acknowledged publicly by NTV Kenya through a message shared during the programme, which read, “Today we say goodbye to one of our day ones. What’s your message to Janet? #FixingtheNation.”
Mbugua had co-hosted the weekday morning segment alongside Eric Latiff and Mariam Bishar for just over a year, helping shape its editorial direction and tone.
The programme, broadcast daily from 6 am to 10 am, has built a reputation for tackling pressing national issues through a solutions-oriented lens.
While delivering her final segment, Mbugua elaborated on why she chose to be part of the program, citing her previous experience with civic engagement.
“It was right after a very tough time in the country, which I have been quite vocal about. It just made sense to carry on with my advocacy and active citizenry approach and put it on the mainstream platform,” she explained.
From her comments, it is evident that she has strategically linked her career in journalism with her activism in areas such as governance, youth engagement, and social accountability.
“Fixing the Nation,” a renowned morning program of Nation Media Group, has distinguished itself through its emphasis on the issues affecting Kenyans.

Even as she steps back from the TV show, Mbugua assured that she will be quite vocal through her online presence and will remain engaged in raising discussions about civic and social topics.
A central part of her new phase involves her advocacy efforts at the Inua Dada Foundation, which she herself started.
It centers on promoting menstrual hygiene management and protecting the girl child from any injustices.

Mbugua expressed appreciation to viewers and the production teams who supported her throughout her tenure, acknowledging the role they played in shaping the programme’s impact.
She also used the moment to introduce her successor, Fellaris Wambui, urging audiences to extend the same support.
“Receive them with the openness, curiosity and engagement that you have extended to me and my co-hosts,” Mbugua said.
Taking over the role, Wambui acknowledged the significance of the transition and the expectations that come with it.
“I’m stepping into very big shoes, but I have been telling myself that each of us has a part to play when it comes to fixing this nation and I’m here to do exactly that,” she said.
She added, “It is a bittersweet entry into this. Janet, you are a woman I have really looked up to over the years.”
Wambui brings experience from both media and corporate communications, with over a decade in brand management and three years in the broadcast space
