The Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) has responded to a public notice issued by the Technical and Vocational Education and Training Authority (TVETA).
The public notice announced the revocation of its accreditation and the immediate closure of its campuses nationwide.
In a statement released on April 20, 2026, KIM acknowledged the notice and said it is treating the matter with the seriousness it deserves.
The institute confirmed it is reviewing the contents of the notice and actively engaging relevant regulatory authorities to address the issues raised and determine the appropriate legal course of action.
KIM urged students, alumni, partners, and the general public to remain calm and rely on official communication channels for accurate updates.
Established in 1954, the institute noted its 72-year history in advancing management practices and professional development in Kenya, emphasizing its commitment to professionalism, integrity, and transparency.

Regulator Cites Legal Violations
In its public notice, TVETA stated that KIM had been offering and awarding academic and professional programmes without proper accreditation.
The authority said KIM was initially accredited to offer programmes assessed and certified by TVET-CDACC but had continued to operate outside this mandate.
TVETA cited violations of the TVET Act Cap 210A, including offering unapproved programmes and awarding academic qualifications in contravention of Section 17(3).
They also added on engaging trainers without valid licenses as required under Section 23(1).

Public Notice and Immediate Closure
TVETA declared that KIM no longer has the legal mandate to award qualifications and warned that any certificates, diplomas, or qualifications obtained from the institution.
They stated beyond 2018 are not recognized for employment, further education, or professional advancement.
Pursuant to Sections 36 and 37 of the TVET Act, the authority announced the revocation of KIM’s accreditation and ordered the immediate closure of all its campuses across the country.
Members of the public have been advised to exercise caution when engaging with the institution and to verify the accreditation status of any training provider before enrollment.
TVETA reiterated its commitment to safeguarding the integrity and quality of training in Kenya, while KIM said it will continue engaging authorities and updating stakeholders as the situation develops.
