Andrew Kibe Joins 2027 Presidential Race, Reveals His Strategy to Defeat Ruto

Share

Renowned media personality Andrew Kibe has declared his intention to run for the presidency in the 2027 General Election.

Kibe made the remarks during an interview on the Coffee Pump podcast hosted by Sajid Vayani and Eric Mutiso on Sunday, April 19, 2026.

During the discussion, Kibe expressed confidence in his chances, suggesting he would face off against several prominent figures, including President William Ruto and other potential candidates aligned with former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

“If you look at how things are shaping up, William Ruto will be on the ballot in 2027. There will probably be a candidate from Rigathi Gachagua’s side, maybe someone like Matiang’i or even Kalonzo, but whoever they choose doesn’t matter. There will also be Andrew Kibe and Scar (Wakadinali),” said Kibe.

He also pointed out activist Boniface Mwangi, who wants to run for president, too. He dismissed Mwangi’s chances and claimed he would easily win against him in the election.

Kibe further claimed that both Mwangi and other political players operate within what he described as a broader “system,” arguing that only a few, including himself and musician Scar Mkadinali, are outside of it.

“Ah, hands down. Boni has always been, what do you call it?  Boni has always been a survivor. Boni knows how to survive in the system. Because remember, this is the system. The system has good and bad. The system has to have those two.  So Boni has always been part of the system,” added Kibe.

The outspoken personality indicated that he is considering vying as an independent candidate, criticising political parties as “manipulative” and encouraging like-minded aspirants to pursue independent bids.

He believes they could significantly influence voter opinions, similar to what has happened in political campaigns elsewhere.

“I think podcasts are extremely powerful. And podcasts are the way to go. You saw what happened with Trump. Trump had to go on podcasts. By the way, they won him the election,” said Kibe.

He also shared his initial vision for the country, stressing that he would focus on tourism if elected.

Kibe pointed out Kenya’s natural attractions and the untapped potential in this sector.

Andrew Kibe has previously vied for a political seat once before. He contested the Lang’ata parliamentary seat in the 2013 General Election but lost the race.
