What Gachagua and Natembeya Discussed in Closed-Door Meeting

Former Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Governor George Natembeya met in Nairobi, where they discussed plans to strengthen opposition unity ahead of the 2027 General Election.
In a statement shared after the meeting, Gachagua said their talks focused on the upcoming tour of the Western Kenya region by the United Alternative Government, which begins on Friday, June 12, 2026.
He noted that the tour aims to rally support and engage citizens on the country’s political direction.
“I have had a fruitful and engaging breakfast meeting with my cousin and former colleague Governor George Natembeya here in Nairobi,” Gachagua said.
“We have discussed the forthcoming tour of the Western Kenya Region by the United Alternative Government starting tommorow, Friday 12th June, 2026. The Governor has briefed me on the commitment of the great people of Western Kenya to join other Kenyans in liberating our Nation which has been mismanaged by this cleptomaniac regime,” he added.

Gachagua Pushes Opposition Unity Agenda Ahead of 2027 Race
The former Depty president stressed the need for opposition leaders to build a coordinated front ahead of the 2027 General Election.
He said unity remains central to their political strategy and urged leaders to agree on a single presidential candidate to avoid divisions that could weaken their chances.
Gachagua added that ongoing consultations aim to bring different political blocs together under one direction.
45-Day Stakeholder Engagement Drive in Wamunyoro
He further briefed Natembeya on his ongoing 45-day stakeholder engagement at his Wamunyoro residence.
Gachagua explained that the sessions bring together supporters and key stakeholders to discuss leadership direction and strengthen internal consensus.
He said the engagement process plays a key role in shaping the selection of a joint flag bearer under the broader opposition framework.

Growing Momentum for Unity Talks
Natembeya welcomed the discussions and noted that similar conversations on political unity continue to gain traction across Western Kenya and other parts of the country.
The two pointed out that citizens increasingly call for collaboration among leaders to shape the country’s political future.
The meeting underscored rising coordination among opposition figures as they step up preparations for the 2027 General Election.
