Hiram Gitau, popularly known as Tash, has responded to claims alleging that he denied custody of Pastor Victor Kanyari’s children.
Tash addressed the allegations while defending his role as a guardian. He stressed that despite public scrutiny, he remains focused on raising the children in a stable and loving environment.
He added that he continues to prioritize their emotional wellbeing while respecting the wishes expressed within the family setting.
Tash explained that Betty Bayo must be happy in heaven knowing that her children are safe, adding that the singer asked the children whether they wanted to stay with Kanyari before she passed away.
He explained that the children said they don’t want to live with the pastor, but were open to visiting him from time to time.
“I believe my wife in heaven is happy knowing they are loved, protected, and well taken care of. When Betty passed away, I asked our children, Sky and Victor, whether they wanted to go and live with their biological father, Kanyari. They both told me that their mother knew what was best for them and that, if necessary, they could visit him but did not want to live with him. Since then, I have respected their decision, and we have continued to live happily together as a family,” Tash said.

Tash Responds to Online Accusations
Tash further expressed deep pain over the allegations circulating online, saying they have taken a heavy emotional toll.
“Sometimes I cry when I read some of the stories people post online. Some say very hurtful things about me. Just imagine being accused of sleeping with your own daughter. It breaks my heart. If Betty were to wake up today, she would be shocked by some of the things being said because she knew the kind of person I am better than anyone else. That is why she chose to marry me,” he added.
Tash maintained that public criticism does not define him and insisted that his actions and love for his children speak for him.
“I let people talk because their words do not define who I am. My character, my actions, and the love I have for my children speak for themselves,” he said further.

Kanyari Speaks on Strained Relationship With Children
This comes after Pastor Victor Kanyari made a Father’s Day post on June 21, where he expressed emotional distress over his strained relationship with his children.
“Father’s Day is one of the saddest days of my life. While many fathers are celebrating their children, I continue living with the pain of being denied access to mine. I have not been able to see them, and I do not know where they are,” Kanyari stated.
He further directed criticism at the children’s stepfather, referring to him as a “chiwawa, mwanaume wa kuwekwa,” as he accused him of interfering with his access to the children.
