Muhoroni Youth Head Coach Joseph Ongoro Dies

The Kenyan football fraternity is mourning following the death of Muhoroni Youth head coach Joseph Ongoro.

Joseph Ongoro, who was serving as Muhoroni Youth’s head coach at the time of his death, is being remembered for his immense contribution to Kenyan football and his dedication to nurturing talent across the country.

According to reports, the coach collapsed on school premises shortly after his team’s 1-0 victory during post-match celebrations. The circumstances surrounding his death were not immediately disclosed.

Muhoroni Football Coach Joseph Ongoro Dies

Joseph Ongoro, a respected figure in Kenyan football, previously coached Shabana FC, Gusii FC, Silibwet Leons, Nyamira Super Eagles and Matutu Secondary School, leaving a lasting impact wherever he served.

Before venturing into coaching, Ongoro also enjoyed a playing career as a goalkeeper, turning out for Sofapaka FC among other clubs.

Throughout his coaching career, he earned a reputation for nurturing young talent and helping develop football at both the club and school levels.

“The football fraternity is mourning the passing of Coach Joseph Ongoro. Until his demise, Coach Ongoro served as the head coach of Muhoroni Youth. Throughout his coaching career, he also had stints with Gusii FC, Silibwet, Nyamira Super Eagles, Matutu Secondary, and Shabana FC. May his soul rest in eternal peace,” Muhoroni Youth said in a statement.

Paid Tributes

Muhoroni Youth led tributes to the veteran tactician, with members of the football community honouring his years of service and commitment to the growth of the sport.

Gucha Youth Club was among the first clubs to send its condolences following Ongoro’s death.

“We send our heartfelt condolences to Muhoroni Youth following the passing of their Head Coach, Joseph Ongoro. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends, the technical bench, players, and the entire Muhoroni Youth fraternity during this difficult time. May his soul rest in peace,” the club said.

Social media users have also paid their tribute, acknowledging Joseph as a devoted coach who wanted the best for his team.

They also stated that he had left a legacy to all his coached teams during his career.

“Coach Ongoro was a dedicated servant of the club whose passion, commitment and leadership left a lasting impact on our players, staff and the entire Muhoroni Youth family. His contribution to the growth of the club and the development of young footballers will always be remembered,” read one of the comments.
