Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) leadership and the Government Delivery Unit (GDU), led by Olando Sitati held a consultative meeting to discuss about the progress on flagship airport and airstrip projects.
The meeting that was held on October 24th, 2025 comprised of Ably representing KAA’s Managing Director Dr. Mohamud Gedi, General Manager of Marketing and Business Development, Abraham Kiprutto, led the KAA delegation alongside the General Manager of Projects and Engineering Services, Meshack Ochieng.
KAA step to review infrastructure highlights how it’s leadership think critically in addressing pressing issues sorrounding airports.
They want to transform Kenya’s aviation landscape in relation with President William Ruto’s vision of modern, inclusive economy anchored in Kenya Vision 2030 and the Bottom-Up Economic Transformation Agenda (BETA).

At Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA), KAA plans to include new passenger boarding bridges by mid 2026.
After that, they will build a modern new runway by 2027.
Additionally, they will upgrade the state-of-the-art terminal by 2029 to make sure JKIA remain preferable choice for passengers and cargo.
“At JKIA, the nation’s aviation gateway, KAA has put plans in place for cutting-edge upgrades including new passenger boarding bridges by mid-2026, a new runway by 2027, and a state-of-the-art terminal by 2029, ensuring that JKIA remains the preferred regional hub for passengers and cargo,” said KAA.

Meanwhile, KAA has put measures in place to advance strategic enhancements at regional airstrips and boosting connectivity beyond Nairobi.
Additionally, they will also unlock tourism and investment opportunities and at the same time decentralizing aviation training boasting sustainable and equitable development.
