Five Feared Dead, 21 Injured After Lorry Overturns in Grisly Road Accident

Five people have been confirmed dead and 21 others injured after a lorry overturned along the Ikutha-Kasaala Road in Kitui County.
According to a police report, the Mitsubishi Canter was ferrying traders to Kasaala Market when it lost control and overturned past Matulu Shopping Centre.
As a result, five people, including one man and four women, died in the accident, and their bodies were transferred to the mortuary at Mutomo Level IV Sub-County Hospital.
Police said the 21 people who sustained injuries in the accident were rushed to Ikutha Level IV Hospital for medical treatment.
People Injured in Multi-Vehicle Crash Along Busy Nairobi-Nakuru Highway
The latest development comes against the increase in road accidents reported across the country, raising renewed concerns over road safety.
Just days ago, several people were injured after at least three vehicles, including a Super Metro bus, were involved in a road accident at Kinungi along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway.
The accident occurred at around 9 pm, with the vehicles colliding on the busy highway, leaving several passengers injured and others trapped inside the wreckage.
Reports indicated that the Super Metro bus was headed to Busia from Nairobi while the other bus was headed to Nairobi when they collided.

Images widely shared online showed the Super Metro bus extensively damaged, with its windscreen shattered and seats mangled following the impact.
Meanwhile, emergency responders were quickly dispatched to the scene and helped retrieve passengers trapped inside the wreckage before rushing those injured to the hospital for treatment.
Following the crash, heavy traffic along the Nairobi-Nakuru Highway was witnessed, with motorists reportedly stuck for several hours as police officers and emergency teams worked to clear the wreckage from the road.
Passengers who managed to escape from the vehicles safely were forced to spend the night in the cold as rescue and recovery operations continued.
Tourists’ Vehicle Overturns Along Southern Bypass in Nairobi
Elsewhere, in August, several tourists were seriously injured after the vehicle they were travelling in was involved in a road accident along Nairobi’s Southern Bypass.

The accident disrupted traffic on the busy bypass as members of the public rushed to the scene and launched rescue efforts to assist the injured tourists.
According to videos and images shared on social media, the tourist vehicle overturned on the side of the road near a trench, as tourists were seen lying inside the trench.
