Nairobi Traffic Alert as Linda Mwananchi Rally Hits City — Roads to Avoid

Motorists in Nairobi have been advised to expect heavy traffic on major roads because of the Linda Mwananchi Rally taking place in Nairobi today, September 13, 2026.

According to a traffic advisory, congestion is expected along some of the city’s busiest transport corridors, including Jogoo Road, Mombasa Road, Outering Road and Thika Road, as supporters travel to and from the rally.

The Linda Mwananchi Movement is expected to draw large crowds from different parts of Nairobi, with activities planned across several areas.

Authorities have urged road users to be prepared and consider alternative routes where possible to minimise delays and follow directions as they remain patient.

Public Service Operators

Public service vehicle operators are also expected to encounter slower movement on the affected roads as traffic builds up during the day as the rally continues taking place.

Pedestrians have similarly been advised to exercise caution around busy junctions and gathering points where large crowds are currently gathered to support the rally.

The affected roads serve as key links between Nairobi’s central business district and residential estates in the eastern and southern parts of the city, making them among the busiest routes during weekends and public events.

Any increase in traffic volumes on these corridors is likely to have a ripple effect on surrounding roads together with various intersections.

Linda Mwananchi Rally

The Linda Mwananchi rally marks the movement’s return to Nairobi after holding an earlier event recently in Homa Bay, with organisers expecting supporters from across the city to participate in Sunday’s activities.

In addition, commuters are therefore encouraged to stay updated on traffic conditions throughout the day and cooperate with traffic management officers to help ease movement across the city as the rally continues.

Additionally, crowds have gathered in Nairobi supporting the rally, which is led by Nairobi Senator Edwin Difuna together with Embakasi MP Babu Owino and Siaya Governor James Orengo.
