UPDATE: M-Shwari has announced that all its services have been fully restored following an earlier intermittent disruption, thanking customers for their patience and understanding.

M-Shwari has announced that its services are currently unavailable, affecting customers accessing mobile banking features through the platform.
In a statement, the company said it has dedicated technical teams working to restore normal operations as quickly as possible.
“We wish to advise that M-Shwari services are currently unavailable. We have dedicated resources working to restore services as soon as possible and apologise for any inconvenience,” the company stated.
M-Shwari further assured users that an official update will be issued once services are fully restored, urging customers to remain patient as the issue is resolved.
“We shall issue an update once services are restored,” M-Shwari added.
M-Shwari clarification comes after Safaricom responded to several complaints from customers on X and Facebook.
Safaricom confirmed the outage and apologised for the technical hitch.
The Company assured customers that its team was working to restore services.
“M-Shwari is experiencing system challenges for now, and we are working to resolve with the utmost priority. Our apologies,” Safaricom said.

Customers who have tried using M-Shwari have received different responses.
Some of them include:
1 . Failed. Your M-Shwari withdrawal of KSh500.00 was not successful. Please try again later.
2 .Dear customer, MShwari is currently undergoing maintenance and is unable to process your request.We apologise for the inconvenience.

Safaricom had 7.4 million active M-Shwari customers with deposits totalling Ksh49.3 billion ($382 million) as of the full year 2025.
The platform disbursed loans worth Ksh96.4 billion ($748 million) in the same period.
However, M-Shwari revenue dropped by 14.4% in the Half-Year ended September 2025.
However, the number of active M-Shwari customers rose by 17.6% despite the challenges.
