The County Government of Machakos has formally responded to claims made by comedian Sammy Kioko during an interview on The Obinna Show Live, demanding evidence to substantiate allegations that the devolved unit owes him money for services rendered.
In a letter dated November 12, 2025, addressed to comedian and show host Steve Thompson Magana, popularly known as “Oga Obinna”, the Office of the County Attorney accused the content creator of broadcasting false and malicious information concerning the county’s financial dealings.
The communication, signed by Juliet Nthambi, the County Solicitor, sought official proof of the claims aired on Obinna’s YouTube channel, which boasts over 600,000 subscribers.
The episode titled “When Politics Crushes Dreams | Sammy Kioko’s Heartbreaking Story” aired on November 10, featured Kioko recounting his alleged unpaid work for the county government, sparking public outrage and heated online debate.

Machakos County stated that the allegations were “made out of ignorance of facts and the law” and emphasized that no record exists showing Kioko as a registered supplier or representative of any company doing business with the county.
“The said Sammy Kioko is not a registered supplier with the County Government of Machakos,” read part of the letter.
It further noted that he “does not appear as a director, shareholder, or beneficial owner in any registered company supplying to the county.”
The letter also challenged claims that Kioko had held discussions with county officials, saying such meetings “cannot be ascertained or substantiated as there is no evidence of such.”
In the strongly worded communication, the county warned Obinna that hosting and publishing the unverified claims could attract legal consequences.
“This letter is therefore to demand that you supply us with the documents confirming the said Sammy Kioko’s claim… failure of which we will be forced to take action,” the solicitor cautioned.
The county reminded Obinna that contractual matters between private companies and government entities “cannot be discussed or shared by third parties,” insisting that any official communication on pending payments must come directly from registered suppliers or their authorized representatives.

Machakos County maintained that Kioko’s statements were “aimed at whipping emotions and turning the public against the County Government of Machakos unnecessarily.”
It also affirmed that all procurement procedures are conducted strictly in accordance with the Public Procurement and Disposal of Assets Act and the Companies Act, 2015.
“If the said Sammy Kioko is so aggrieved… there exist legal mechanisms and remedies in law that he can pursue,” the letter concluded, urging both Obinna and Kioko to adhere to proper legal channels.
