The Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (SASRA) announced the addition of new licensed and authorized SACCOs.
In a public notice dated September 26, 2025, the authority said new SACCOs will also fall under the financial year ending December 31, 2025.
The publication issued by the Kenya Gazette on January 24th, 2025, allows the Authority to issue a Sacco deposit-taking license to the Sacco Society.
“Pursuant to section 28 of the Sacco Societies Act (the Act), the Sacco Societies Regulatory Authority (Authority) notifies the general public that, further to the list of licensed and authorized Sacco Societies published in the Kenya Gazette No. 657 Vol. CXXVII – 15, dated 24th January 2025, the Authority has, in accordance with.”
“Regulation 8(1) of the Sacco Societies (Deposit-Taking Sacco Business) Regulations, 2010 issued a Sacco deposit-taking license to the Sacco Society listed in Schedule I to undertake deposit-taking Sacco business in Kenya with effect from 11th August 2025, and which may be renewed upon application, but subject to compliance with the prescribed minimum prudential standards,” read part notice.
Additional licensed deposit-taking Sacco Society
Kumbukumbu SACCO Society Ltd was licensed on August 11, 2025, and is located at the Nairobi National Museum Headquarters around Museum Hill Road.
“Regulation 6(2) of the Sacco Societies (Non-Deposit-Taking Sacco Business) Regulations, 2020 issued authorizations to the Sacco Societies listed in Schedule II to undertake specified non-deposit-taking Sacco business in Kenya with effect from the respective dates stated therein, and which may be renewed upon application, but subject to compliance with the prescribed minimum prudential standards,” read part notice.

Additionally, authorized Sacco Societies to undertake specified non-deposit-taking Sacco Business
ACK Imani Talent Regulated Non–WDT SACCO Society Ltd was licensed on May 7, 2025, and is located at Mothers Union Plaza, Moi Road in Nakuru town.
In addition, Kenfam Regulated Non–WDT SACCO Society Ltd, which is found at Nairobi South Gate Centre along Mukomo Road in South B, Nairobi, was licensed on May 7th, 2025.
On January 1st, 2025, Urban Roads Regulated Non-WDT SACCO Society Ltd secured its license. The Sacco is located in Nairobi at Barabara Plaza along Mazao Road – Off South Airport Road, JKIA.
It is an offence punishable by prosecution under the Act and the Regulations made thereunder for any person to conduct or undertake a deposit-taking Sacco business and/or specified non-deposit taking Sacco business, with any Sacco Society or entity, unless the Sacco Society has been duly licensed or authorized by the Authority.
Any member of the public, person, or entity who transacts or continues to transact deposit-taking Sacco business or specified non-deposit-taking Sacco business, with a Sacco society or any other entity which does not have a valid license or authorization for the Authority, shall be doing so at his/her own risk and peril.
Every licensed or authorized Sacco Society is required by law at all times, display the original license or authorization certificate (as the case may be) in a conspicuous place at their registered Head Offices, and a copy license or authorization certificate (as the case may be) at all other licensed or authorized branches and places of business.

Public and private sector companies, institutions, and entities should desist from facilitating unlicensed and unauthorized entities purporting to be Sacco Societies, to undertake illegal SACCO businesses through deductions and remittances, and / or by providing electronic and digital channels and conduits to undertake such illegal regulated SACCO businesses.
Regulated SACCO Societies are strictly prohibited from placing and/or investing members’ funds in the deposit and/or equities of any unregulated entity, and any such existing placement and/or investments should be recalled forthwith.
