Safaricom PLC has announced the launch of the first tranche of Fixed Rate Green Notes under the Domestic Medium Term Note Programme (MTN Programme).
In a press statement issued on November 25, 2025, Safaricom said the programme will add up to Ksh 40 billion.
This inaugural issuance seeks to raise to Ksh 15 billion, with a Ksh5 billion greenshoe option, at a fixed interest rate of 10.40% per annum and a tenor of 5 years.
“We are pleased to announce the launch of the first tranche of Fixed Rate Green Notes under our Domestic Medium Term Note Programme (MTN Programme) of up to KES 40 Billion,” said Safaricom.
Under Tranche 1, the user shall allocate 100% of the net proceeds of these Tranche Notes to finance and refinance the portfolio of Eligible Green Projects as indicated in the Green Project Categories set out under the Sustainable Finance Framework available on Safaricom’s website https://www.safaricom.co.ke/investor-relations
“The offer opens on 25th November 2025 and closes on 5th December 2025. Allotment is on 8th December, and the Notes will be listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange on 16th December 2025. Investors are invited to participate in this landmark opportunity,” Safaricom stated.
According to Safaricom, Tenor will take a duration of 5 years with a fixed rate of interest of 10.4/% per annum.
The minimum amount of subscription will be Ksh 50,000 with integral multiples of Ksh 10,000.
In addition, Notes will be listed on the Nairobi Securities Exchange. The issue is restricted, and no offer of the Notes will take place in any jurisdiction other than Kenya.

The documents are governed by Kenyan law.

Allotment Date — 08th December 2025.
Notification Date (via email/telephone) — 09th December 2025.
Issue Date and Payment Date (for qualified institutional investors only) — 11th December 2025.
CSDC Account Upload — 15th December 2025.
Listing Date — 16th December 2025.
