The court of Kenya has decided in favor of Lilian, commonly referred to as Mama Adalola, who acquired the custody of the daughters of media personality, Oga Obinna, Ada and Lola.
The children will spend the weekdays with their mother in accordance with the ruling, and Obinna will have weekends visitation rights.
The court also instructed Obinna to keep on paying their fees and other pressing needs in school.
In response to the verdict Mama Adalola, who was reportedly relieved at the news, said, “Finally I have full custody of my kids after being denied for years.”
She stated that the decision has enabled her to spend more time with her daughters since she terms it as having been long denied access following a long period.
The decision is seen as a new phase in the publicized custody tussle between the former couple highlighting the problems of parental rights and joint responsibilities of separated families.
Initially, the couple had a battle stemmed from disagreements over co-parenting after their break-up.
Mama Adalola then initiated legal action after growing tired of Obinna’s public commentary about her social media.
In posts leading up to the ruling, Mama Adalola accused Obinna of mistreating her and using his social media platform to tarnish her reputation.
Before the ruling, Obinna primarily had custody, but reports indicate that the children had experienced a desire to be with their mother.
Despite the official custody ruling, a recent reunion between Mama Adalola and her daughters indicate that the children continue to have a good relationship with both parents.
