Fear as Fire Erupts in School Dormitory Housing 340 Students

A fire broke out at Hill School in Eldoret, affecting a dormitory that housed about 340 Form 3 and Form 4 students on Tuesday, September 22.

The incident occurred at around 5 am while the students were in morning preps, with no injuries reported. The fire has since been contained as officials assess the extent of the damage.

“Psychosocial support is being provided to affected students, alongside a rapid needs assessment to establish the extent of damage and inform the appropriate course of action,” Kenya Red Cross said in a post.

Kenya Red Cross responders are working alongside the Uasin Gishu County Coordinator, police, the fire brigade, and community members as efforts continue to assess the damage and support the affected students.
