Former IEBC & KNH CEOs Among Officials Facing Corruption Cases This Week

Former Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) CEO Humphrey Obanda Oswago and former Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) CEO Evanson Njoroge Kamuri are among former public officials set to face court proceedings this week over corruption-related allegations.

The Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) has listed 14 cases for hearing or mention between September 21 and 29, 2026. Several of the cases involve allegations of public funds losses, unexplained wealth, and recovery of public property.

The cases involve allegations of fraudulent acquisition of public property, conflict of interest, procurement irregularities, forgery and unlawful acquisition of assets.

The listed cases involve more than Ksh 4.4 billion in identified monetary claims, excluding matters where the EACC notice does not state a value.

Former Kenyatta Hospital CEO Faces Ksh229.4 Million Recovery Case

Former KNH CEO Evanson Njoroge Kamuri is scheduled to appear before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on September 22, 2026. The EACC has filed a suit seeking recovery of Ksh 229.4 million from Kamuri.

Commission says the amount comprises cumulative unexplained bank credits and the value of landed properties allegedly acquired while he was employed as the hospital’s CEO.

The matter will come up for hearing as the commission seeks to recover the funds and properties in question.

Former IEBC CEO to Appear in Court Over Ballot Paper Procurement Case

Former IEBC CEO Humphrey Obanda Oswago and two others are also scheduled to appear before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court.

The three face charges of wilful failure to comply with applicable procedures and guidelines relating to the procurement of goods.

Allegations concern bribery involving top officials of the IEBC and its predecessor, the Interim Independent Electoral Commission (IIEC), in the purchase of ballot papers for General Elections and some by-elections.

The case is scheduled for hearing on September 22, 23 and 24, 2026.

Ksh1.5 Billion PROFiT Funds Case

Billy Otieno Obange and others will face a Ksh1.5 billion recovery case before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on September 22, 2026.

The EACC is seeking to recover funds intended for the Programme for Rural Outreach of Financial Innovations and Technologies (PROFiT).

According to the commission’s court listing, the funds were fraudulently and illegally obtained from the National Treasury. The matter will come up for mention.

Ksh1.2 Billion Unexplained Assets Case

Nicholas Owino Ochiel and three others are also scheduled to appear before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on September 23, 2026.

The EACC has filed a suit seeking forfeiture of unexplained assets worth Ksh1.2 billion to the Government of Kenya. The matter will come up for mention as the commission pursues the recovery of the assets.

Karen Land Worth Ksh1.255 Billion

Kyaloka Property Development Company Ltd and four others will face a recovery suit involving public land in Karen. The EACC is seeking recovery of LR No. 6861/1, which the commission values at Ksh1.255 billion.

The case is scheduled for hearing at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on September 23, 2026.

KeRRA Conflict of Interest Case

Antco Investment Ltd and others will face a recovery suit involving Ksh133.7 million allegedly acquired in a conflict-of-interest transaction.

EACC said the money was acquired from the Kenya Rural Roads Authority (KeRRA) and paid to Antco Investments Ltd when the first defendant was an employee of KeRRA and served as a director and bank account signatory.

The case is scheduled for hearing at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on September 23 and 24, 2026.

Garissa MCA Faces Ksh51 Million Case

Garissa Balambala MCA Abdi Ibrahim Daar and four others will face a criminal case involving Ksh51 million.

They are charged with conspiracy to commit an economic crime, fraudulent acquisition of public property, forgery, and uttering a false document.

EACC says the allegations relate to irregular payments of Ksh51 million by the Garissa County Government to Qorjarey Enterprise and General Supplies Limited, a company associated with the first defendant.

The case will be heard at the Garissa Law Court on September 22 and 24, 2026.

Nairobi County Recovery Case

Fastlink Connections Ltd and three others will face a recovery suit involving Ksh14 million allegedly embezzled from the Nairobi City County Government.

The case is scheduled for hearing at the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court on September 21, 22 and 23, 2026. The EACC is seeking recovery of the alleged loss from the defendants.

Former Nairobi Water Employee Faces Forgery Case

Nicholas Ngui Nguimu, a former employee of the Nairobi Water and Sewerage Company, will also appear before the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court.

He faces charges of fraudulently acquiring public property worth KSh7.6 million, forging a KCSE certificate and uttering a false document to secure employment.

His case is scheduled for hearing on September 28 and 29, 2026.

More Public Land Recovery Cases Listed

Sammy Mwaita and others will face a recovery case involving public land in Nakuru. The EACC is seeking recovery of LR No. Nakuru Municipality Block 20/232, which is valued at Ksh100 million.

The case is scheduled for hearing at the Environment and Land Court in Nakuru on September 23 and 24, 2026.

Another case involves Wilson Gacanja, Martha Wanjumbi Wamboi and three others over LR Machakos Municipality Block 1/609, which was reserved for Machakos Prison. The matter will be heard at the Environment and Land Court in Machakos on September 23.

Joseph Kinyanjui Mwai also faces a suit seeking recovery of public land registered as Limuru/Township/195. The 0.0852-hectare property belongs to the State Department for Housing and Urban Development.

The matter is scheduled for hearing at the Environment and Land Court in Limuru on September 23.

Other Forgery and Public Property Cases

Florence Njeri Njuguna, a former fund manager at Laari Constituency NG-CDF, is scheduled to face a case involving the alleged fraudulent acquisition of public property worth KSh2.2 million.

She also faces allegations of forging a KCSE certificate and using the document to secure employment. The Milimani Anti-Corruption Court has scheduled her case for hearing on September 28 and 29.

Thomas Mwabonje Bandari will also have his case mentioned on September 21, 22 and 23.

He faces charges of fraudulently acquiring public property, forgery and uttering a false document allegedly used to secure employment at a National Cereals and Produce Board-related entity identified in the EACC notice as NCWSC.
