Harambee Stars Payments Cleared as FKF Addresses McCarthy Work Permit

Football Kenya Federation (FKF) has addressed concerns over outstanding payments affecting Harambee Stars and the work permit status of head coach Benni McCarthy and some members of his technical team.

The federation said the Ministry of Sports has confirmed that an outstanding payment relating to a previous Harambee Stars assignment has been cleared and is expected to reflect by tomorrow.

FKF said other payments relating to national team preparations and allowances are at different stages of processing.

The federation said it remains in regular communication with the Ministry of Sports and relevant government offices to ensure the outstanding payments are addressed.

“FKF appreciates the Ministry’s engagement and commitment to resolving the outstanding payments and will continue to work with the Ministry to ensure the national team’s needs are addressed,” the federation said.

McCarthy Work Permit Process Ongoing

FKF also confirmed that it is aware of concerns surrounding the work permits of McCarthy and some members of his technical team.

The federation said it is working with relevant government agencies to process the required documentation, adding that the process is ongoing.

FKF said it continues to follow up with the relevant offices to ensure the process is concluded.

According to the federation, McCarthy and members of the technical bench have travelled in and out of Kenya with Harambee Stars during their international assignments.

FKF described the work permit issue as an administrative matter being handled with the relevant authorities.

The federation also noted that the technical team’s responsibilities extend beyond national team camps and include monitoring domestic matches and players across the country.

Harambee Stars Preparations

FKF said it remains focused on supporting Harambee Stars as the team prepares for its upcoming 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying assignments.

The federation said it is engaging with the players, technical team and Ministry of Sports as the outstanding matters are addressed.

FKF thanked the Ministry of Sports, players and technical team for their support and said it would continue working with all stakeholders to ensure Harambee Stars’ preparations remain on course.
