Kakuzi Warns Public Over Fake Land Sales in Murang’a County

Kakuzi PLC has warned the public against fake land sales involving its property in Murang’a County.

Kakuzi PLC has warned members of the public against fake land sales involving its property after reports emerged that individuals in Murang’a County are allegedly purporting to sell portions of the company’s land to unsuspecting buyers.

In a notice dated June 8, 2026,  the company firmly distanced itself from the alleged activities, stating that it is not selling, leasing, or donating any of its property.

“It has come to our notice that some individuals in Murang’a County are purporting to sell portions of Kakuzi land to unsuspecting members of the public. Take notice that Kakuzi is not selling or donating any of its property,” the notice read.

Kakuzi Sends Warning After Fake Land Sale Reports Surface

The company also noted that any individual who proceeds to purchase, lease, occupy, or otherwise deal with the land does so at their own risk, and the company will not be liable for any resulting losses or damages.

Kakuzi added that concerns over the alleged attempts to expropriate company assets were also raised during the recently concluded Kakuzi 98th Annual General Meeting (AGM).

Shareholders reportedly expressed concern over ongoing efforts by external parties to interfere with or claim company land, prompting the Board and management to take action.

“The shareholders consequently tasked the firm’s Board and management with pursuing all legal mechanisms at their disposal to secure the company’s landholdings and related assets,” Read part of the notice.

They further directed the company’s leadership to pursue all available legal measures to safeguard its land holdings and related assets.

Legal Warning to the Public Against Fake Land Sales

Meanwhile, Kakuzi argued that any land transaction involving its property is unauthorized and illegal and urged members of the public to exercise caution when approached with such offers.

The company also stated that individuals engaging in such transactions do so entirely at their own risk.

It further provided official contact channels for inquiries, stressing that Kenyans who receive offers or information regarding alleged Kakuzi land sales should report the matter directly to the company for verification.

“If you are approached with an offer for sale or have any inquiries, please contact us immediately. Remember, any land transaction involving Kakuzi’s land is unauthorised and illegal.”

Kakuzi PLC  maintained that all its land remains under its ownership and that no part of it is currently available for sale or donation.

The company also warned that it will take legal action to protect its assets and prevent fraudulent transactions.
