KBC Radio Taifa Journalist Edmond Salasya Dies 

KBC Radio Taifa journalist Edmond Salasya has died after his lungs collapsed, according to fellow journalist Stephen Mukangai.

On Thursday, September 10, Mukangai announced Salasya’s death, mourning him as a colleague and brother while reflecting on the memories they shared.

“The media fraternity is mourning the loss of KBC Kiswahili Service journalist Edmond Salasya, who has passed away after his lungs collapsed,” he wrote.

Beyond his professional work, Salasya had built strong relationships with colleagues at KBC Radio Taifa, making his death a painful moment for those who worked alongside him.

Edmond Salasya Remembered by Colleagues

Following the announcement, Mukangai mourned Salasya as colleagues and friends came to terms with the loss of the fellow journalist.

“Edmond, this is heart-breaking. Your voice, your presence and the memories you created with us will forever remain in our hearts. Sometimes words are simply not enough to express the pain of losing a colleague and a brother,” he said.

Meanwhile, Mukangai offered prayers for Salasya’s family, friends and colleagues as they face the loss.

“Rest well, bro. You have fought your battle. May you rest in eternal peace, and may God comfort your family, friends and colleagues during this difficult time. Lala salama Edmond Salasya. You will never be forgotten,” he added.

Who Was Salasya?

For years, Edmond Salasya served as a familiar voice on KBC Radio Taifa, presenting entertainment programmes on the national Kiswahili service.

A profile of Radio Taifa presenters published in 2014 identified him as the presenter of Pepea Africa, confirming his presence on the station’s programming by at least 2013.

Over the years, he also appeared in other Radio Taifa programmes, including Tafrija ya Taifa and Usiku Mwema. KBC Radio Taifa continued to feature him in its programming as recently as 2024, highlighting his long association with the station.

Through that long career, Salasya became a recognisable member of the Radio Taifa broadcasting team.

His death now marks a significant loss to KBC and Kenya’s wider media fraternity, with colleagues remembering his voice, presence and contribution to radio broadcasting.
