Kenyan Chef Doky Dorcas Burns Her Guinness World Record Certificate

Dorcas Kwamboka also known as Doky Dorcas burns her Guinness world record certificate saying people hate her for it and she is facing intense backlash on social media.

In a video that has since gone viral, Dorcas is seen burning the certificate on her gas while saying that she hopes people will be happy after she has now burnt it.

“This thing has brought me so much hate, ile madharau iko kwa wall yangu because of this thing,” she said.

Dorcas got the Guinness world record for making three chapatis in the shortest time. She took 2 minutes 29 seconds.

Record Holder

She set that record after she completed making a total of three chapatis under three minutes during an attempt held in Ongata Rongai in December 2025.

This achievement earned her widespread recognition both in Kenya and internationally with many Kenyans celebrating an achievement of one of their own.

However the recognition has also attracted criticism and negative comments on social media with Dorcas saying people hate her for that achievement.

“I hope the hate will now stop,” she said.

Online Reactions

The trending video has sparked online reactions from netizens with users telling her to ignore criticism and focus on her work while others question her decision.

“You are putting your energy on unnecessary online pressure. What happened to the funds you were getting to open a restaurant? Just start small you will get there, even if it’s the online selling you’ve been doing,” Tinah said.

Austine said “This is not the original certificate, you are making content though I will say this . Never live on this earth to please everyone,”

“If you’re seeking approval from this people then you’re focused on the wrong things,fanya shugli zako na mambo zitafunguka,” said Jomar.

She Still Holds The Record

Despite Dorcas destroying the physical certificate, burning it does not affect her status at the official Guinness World Record title holder.

Guinness World Record recognises achievements based on verified achievements and destruction of the certificate does not invalidate that.

This incident has also sparked a conversation on cyberbullying and what it can do to an individual as netizens motivate Dorcas to stop listening to people.
