Malindi Divorce Drama: Woman Accused of Taking Ksh 79 M From Husband

A divorce case being heard in Malindi has attracted public attention after a Facebook user shared claims about an alleged financial dispute between a couple.

Caroline K. Gikunda, in a post on Facebook, claimed that the case involves Martha Wanjiru Muhoro, also known as Martha Shiro, and her estranged husband, Joel Fitzpatrick.

According to Gikunda, the matter was mentioned in court on Monday, June 15, as part of ongoing divorce proceedings.

In her post, Gikunda alleged that Fitzpatrick told the court he lost approximately Ksh 79 million after trusting his wife with funds intended to help him relocate and settle in Kenya.

She claimed that Fitzpatrick moved to Kenya in May last year and married Martha in July.

According to the post, Fitzpatrick alleged that money sent to Martha was used to purchase property and vehicles that were registered in her name.

“He wired about 80 million in trust to her account, hoping that she would prepare the way for his transit from Dublin to Malindi,” Gikunda wrote.

She further claimed that a house worth Ksh 24.7 million, a Subaru vehicle, and a Toyota double-cabin pickup were purchased and registered in Martha’s name.

Gikunda claimed that Fitzpatrick told the court the marriage ended only four months after the wedding.

She further alleged that after the separation, efforts were made to have Fitzpatrick deported from Kenya.

According to the Facebook post, Fitzpatrick is currently living in Malindi and depends on support from friends.
