Mother of Kajiado Plane Crash Victim Appeals for Help to Give Son a Befitting Send-Off

Alex Oluka’s mother, Everlyn Inait, has appealed for financial support to help the family give her son a befitting send-off following his death in the Kajiado plane crash.

Inait said she spent years farming to raise money for Oluka’s education as he pursued his dream of becoming a pilot.

The 25-year-old had recently completed his training at the Kenya School of Flying and started working as a flight instructor.

“I used to farm to pay for Alex’s education. Alex would always tell me, ‘Just keep farming because I want to study.’”

Oluka was killed on September 18 alongside a student pilot when a Kenya School of Flying aircraft crashed in Kipeto, Kajiado West, during a training flight.

Inait said Oluka had become a source of hope for the family after completing the education she had struggled to finance through farming.

She recalled her son as a child who understood the sacrifices behind his education and remained focused on completing his studies.

His progress into aviation had given her hope that he would eventually help support her and his siblings.

That expectation was cut short by his death, leaving the family to prepare for his burial while Inait appeals for assistance.

“Alex was my child. Alex was very good to me. He wanted to help me, but God took him. Now I am only asking you to help me with the other children who are left. Please help me because of Alex. Before he died, we talked. Now I have no peace.”

What happened when the Kenya School of Flying aircraft crashed in Kajiado

The aircraft crashed near the Kipeto Wind Power Project as Oluka and the student pilot were undertaking a training flight.

The accident claimed both lives and prompted investigations by authorities to establish what led to the crash.

Preliminary reports indicated that poor visibility caused by morning mist may have contributed to the accident, although investigators had not established the final cause.

Oluka had graduated from the Kenya School of Flying just weeks before the crash and had begun working as a flight instructor.

His death has left the family appealing to well-wishers for assistance as they make arrangements to lay him to rest.
