The Kenya Hospital Association has constituted its Board of Management following its Annual General Meeting held on August 25, 2026, with Dr Barcley Onyambu retaining his position as chairman.
Nairobi Hospital announced the 11-member board in a notice issued on August 28, confirming the leadership team that will oversee the association’s affairs.
Onyambu was re-elected during the AGM, while Samson Mbuthia Kinyanjui continues as vice chairman after taking up the position in December 2024.
Four members were elected during the latest meeting — Anne Njuguna, Moses Ondaba, Wycliff Wanzala and Lekek Chebii.
Their election adds four new members to a board that also includes officials who were elected at earlier meetings.
Dr Agnes Gachoki remains chairperson of the Medical Advisory Committee, while Dr Edwin Rono serves as vice chairman of the committee as the association’s board brings together medical and professional representation as it takes forward its governance responsibilities.
Who is on the board
The 11-member team includes Onyambu and Kinyanjui, alongside Gachoki and Rono, who hold leadership positions within the Medical Advisory Committee.
Gachoki was elected to her position in August 2025, while Rono joined the board in March 2026.
Dr Magdalene Muthoka, Prof John Mwero and Akinyi Gaya Valerie were elected in December 2024 and remain members of the board. Njuguna, Ondaba, Wanzala and Lekek Chebii were elected during the August 25 AGM and now join the existing members.

Different election dates show that the board has not been appointed as an entirely new team. Instead, the latest AGM changed part of its composition while retaining members who were already serving.
The board’s constitution follows Articles 38, 40, 42, 43, 46, 47 and 51 of the Kenya Hospital Association’s Articles of Association.
Those provisions set out requirements governing the constitution and composition of the Board of Management.
Board to guide association
The reconstituted board is expected to provide strategic oversight and guide Kenya Hospital Association as it advances its mandate in the healthcare sector.
In its announcement, The Nairobi Hospital congratulated the board members and wished them success as they take up their responsibilities.
Onyambu’s re-election provides continuity at the top of the association, while the four members elected during the latest AGM bring fresh representation to the board.

The leadership team will also work alongside the Medical Advisory Committee, chaired by Gachoki, with Rono serving as its vice chairman.
The notice did not set out specific programmes or priorities for individual board members but confirmed that the board’s role is anchored in the association’s governance structure.
The AGM was held on August 25 at 2 pm, with the board’s composition formally announced three days later.
