The Beretta pistol recovered from a suspect linked to the recent Westlands restaurant robbery belonged to Court of Appeal Judge Justice Aggrey Muchelule, who says he only discovered the firearm was missing after being contacted by police.

According to the judge, he was informed by investigators that the Beretta pistol, serial number H20930Y, had been recovered in Joska, Athi River South Sub-County, on July 13, 2026.

Justice Muchelule said he only realised the firearm was missing from his Kitusuru home after receiving the call from the police.

DCI Investigates How Judge Pistol Ended Up With Robbery Suspect

Police recovered the pistol after tracking down a suspect believed to be connected to the robbery at a restaurant along General Mathenge Road in Spring Valley, Westlands.

According to police, the Beretta pistol was recovered loaded with a magazine containing four rounds of 9mm ammunition and an additional live round, spent cartridges, and three mobile phones from the scene.

Police are also investigating how the firearm left the judge’s possession and ended up in the hands of the suspect.

This development comes shortly after police revealed the fatal shooting of a key suspect linked to the brazen armed robbery at a popular restaurant in Spring Valley, Nairobi.

In a statement, DCI said the suspect is also believed to have been part of a criminal network behind a series of violent robberies across Nairobi, Kiambu and Machakos counties.

Detectives from DCI Headquarters joined forces with their DCI Matungulu counterparts to launch a raid on a house in Joska Town, where the suspect had reportedly taken refuge in his girlfriend’s house.

Upon identifying themselves and ordering the occupants to open the door, the suspect opened fire through a kitchen window, spraying bullets at the officers, forcing the officers to return fire in self-defence.

After securing the premises and gaining entry, the detectives discovered the suspect lying fatally wounded inside the house.

A Beretta pistol, loaded with a magazine containing four rounds of 9mm ammunition, alongside live rounds and spent cartridges, was recovered at the scene. Also recovered were three mobile phones.

Preliminary investigations strongly link the suspect to the recent daylight robbery along General Mathenge Road in Spring Valley, Westlands, where armed thugs terrorised diners, snatching phones and valuables before fleeing on motorcycles.

The recovered firearm is now in the custody of the National Police Service Forensic Laboratory (NPSFL), where ballistic experts will examine it for possible links to other violent crimes.

Meanwhile, Police said a manhunt is underway to track down the suspect’s accomplices, who remain at large.
