ODM party leader Dr Oburu Oginga has appeared in a video, seemingly brushing aside new claims that he was taken back to hospital.
In the video circulating online, Oburu is seen in his office reading the Daily Nation newspaper, seemingly to deny reports about his health.
The footage follows reports that the Siaya Senator had been readmitted to hospital days after he had been discharged from one, having been admitted before.
A doctor at the facility said that Oburu’s blood sugar level was a ‘bit low”, but he felt better and was cleared to go home on Monday.
“He was okay when he was leaving, nothing major. His sugar just went a bit low, but he is okay,” said the doctor.
Several reports stated that the Siaya Senator has been admitted to a Nairobi hospital, with reports indicating that his family is even considering seeking specialized treatment for him in the United Kingdom.
However, Oburu Odinga dismissed the reports that he has been readmitted to Nairobi Hospital.
“Those people saying I have been readmitted, have they talked to me? They have not looked for me,” he said.

Oburu’s Health Assurance
He proceeded to assure Kenyans that he will personally give an update if he is ‘truly’ sick, for he is a transparent person.
“I had only briefly visited the hospital for a general check-up with my doctors and have since returned home. Being sick is a normal human experience and should not alarm anyone. The day I am truly sick, I will inform you all, for I am a very transparent person,” said Oburu.

Restricted Access to the Senator During Medical Treatment
The senator’s access is said to be restricted, and only immediate relatives are allowed to meet him while he is still being treated.
Oburu, the elder brother of the late former Prime Minister Raila Odinga, took over the leadership of the ODM after the death of Raila Odinga in October 2025.
