Prison Warden Found Dead at Home in Suspected Love Triangle

Police have launched investigations into the death of a Bomet prison warden found at her residence in Kinyelwet Village, Kipsonoi Ward, Sotik Sub-County.
Authorities discovered her body on July 23, 2026, prompting detectives to open a murder inquiry into the incident.
Bomet County Police Commander Sammy Choge confirmed the case and revealed that early findings suggest a suspected love triangle that could have contributed to the incident.
“We got a report that we have lost one of our officers who worked under the Kenya Prisons Service in Sotik. We are examining the scene of the crime and have taken exhibits. Right now we cannot discuss all the details; we will explain the findings after investigations are complete. At this point, it is a suspected love triangle suicide,” Choge stated on Friday, July 24.
Meanwhile, detectives continue to pursue several leads as they work to establish the events that led to the officer’s death.
Investigations Ongoing Into Bomet Prison Warden Death
First responders arrived at the scene, secured the area and protected crucial evidence from interference.
Soon after, crime scene investigators documented the surroundings and collected forensic exhibits to support the investigation.
At the same time, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations joined officers from Sotik Police Station to retrace the officer’s final movements.
They are also identifying individuals who interacted with her before her death while reviewing witness statements to build a clear timeline.
Authorities then moved the body to a mortuary, where pathologists will conduct a postmortem examination to determine the exact cause of death.

No Arrests Yet
So far, detectives have not made any arrests, as they continue to analyse evidence and verify all available information.
However, Commander Choge urged members of the public to share any useful information with nearby police stations or directly with investigators handling the case.

He assured residents that officers will thoroughly follow every lead to ensure accountability.
