President William Ruto has announced a fresh round of nominations, promotions and redeployments in the Executive.

He has named a new chairperson for the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA), appointing a new government spokesperson and filling vacancies in key constitutional commissions.

In a statement issued on July 21 by Chief of Staff and Head of the Public Service Felix Koskei, the president said the appointments are aimed at filling vacancies in constitutional commissions and statutory bodies while strengthening leadership within the Executive.

Among the key nominations, Dr. Duncan Ojwang Oburu has been nominated as chairperson of the Independent Policing Oversight Authority (IPOA).

Nominations Fowarded To Parliament

The IPOA chairperson position was vacant after Isaac Hassan who was appointed judge of the court of appeal resigned.

His nomination has been forwarded to Parliament for consideration and approval in line with the Constitution.

The president also nominated Antonina Lentojioni and Wilson Sossion as members of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), while Flora Mutua was nominated as a member of the Public Service Commission (PSC).

Ruto nominated seven individuals to serve as members of the Intergovernmental Relations Technical Committee (IGRTC), subject to ratification by the National and County Government Co-ordinating Summit.

Other Nominations

The nominees are Wilson Kuria Thuita (Murang’a), Silvia C. Apaa (Busia), Ahmed Kanyara Bishar (Wajir), Pascalyne Ntang’enoi Kimiriri (Laikipia), Ken Riaga (Migori), Evalyn Chepkirui Aruasa (Nakuru) and Mary Nanjala Kilobi (Nairobi).

The Public Service Commission also approved changes within the senior ranks of the Executive.

Isaac Mwaura who has held the position since 2022 was promoted and redesignated as Head of the Office of Diversity, Inclusion and Disability Rights in the Executive Office of the President.

Meanwhile, Charles Owino Wahong’o was redeployed from the Ministry of Information, Communications and the Digital Economy, where he served as acting Head of Government Communications, and appointed Government Spokesperson in the Executive Office of the President.
