Senegal FA Clarifies Airport Security Check Video During World Cup Travel

The Senegal national team has clarified a viral video showing players and staff undergoing security checks at an airport, saying the footage has been misinterpreted on social media.

The team says the inspection was a normal procedure carried out during boarding in Raleigh, United States, and not upon arrival in San Antonio as some reports suggested.

According to a statement from the team’s communications office, the security screening happened at Raleigh airport on Sunday, June 7, 2026, just before the team’s departure to San Antonio.

The delegation was already inside the airport transport system when the checks were done.

“Contrary to certain reported information, this check did not take place upon the team’s arrival in San Antonio, but rather at the time of boarding at Raleigh airport,” the statement said.

Special Airport Procedure for Team Travel

The team explained that their bus left the hotel in Raleigh and drove directly onto the airport tarmac.

This allowed players and staff to complete security and police checks at the aircraft instead of going through the main terminal and boarding lounges.

The arrangement was designed to make travel faster and smoother for the delegation.

Travel Organized to Save Time for Senegal Delegation

Officials said the special process helped reduce delays and allowed the squad to board their private flight efficiently.

“The private flight connecting Raleigh to San Antonio took place under excellent conditions, and the entire delegation arrived at its destination normally,” the statement added.
