Shock as Female Police Officer Killed in Suspected Domestic Assault

The police are investigating the murder of Sergeant Gladys Nyaguthe Kirika, a 46-year-old police officer whose body was discovered in bushes in Kagira, Kabete, Nairobi County, on September 3rd, 2026.

The investigation was opened when a man supposedly reported to police that he murdered his wife and disposed of her body in the area.

Police from Kabete police station arrived and retrieved the body. They were able to identify the deceased as Sergeant Kirika through the identification documents recovered from her, including a police ID card.

She was attached to Subuiga Police Station, Buuri West Sub-County, Meru County.

The officers reported that there were injuries on Kirika’s head and left hand.

The scene of crime officers attended and examined the scene before transferring the body to PCEA Kikuyu Funeral Home for further post-mortem.

Police have associated Kirika’s husband with the case, after he was said to have told policemen that the killing was carried out.

However, the police investigators are yet to identify the motive.

“Police investigations into the circumstances surrounding the killing are ongoing,” according to a report citing police.

In addition, police have mentioned that there is also the possibility of a domestic dispute being involved, but the reason for Kirika’s death is still being investigated.

The case has attracted reactions in Dagoretti, and the neighborhood has been searched by investigators to establish the cause of the incident before his death.

Ongoing Investigation

Kirika’s death was reported at Kabete Police Station on 3rd September, where police officers began a search in Kagira after information about the whereabouts of the body was received.

The investigation is ongoing, and police are likely to find out what happened to cause the death and whether any criminal proceedings will be taken against anyone.
