Comedian Tom Daktari has revealed the personal story behind his decision to donate Ksh210,000 to Sammy Kioko’s campaign as he seeks to become the next Member of Parliament for Mavoko Constituency.

Speaking on Friday, September 11, at an event where Kioko officially unveiled his candidature for the 2027 Mavoko MP race, Tom said the figure reminded him of the early days of his friendship with Kioko.

According to the comedian, Ksh210 was the first amount Kioko ever sent him to help with fare.

“I began the donations with 210,000. The reason I settled on that exact amount is that I recall the first money Sammy ever sent me for fare was Ksh210,” Tom said.

He said that rather than simply sending what Kioko had sent him, he multiplied the figure to honour the gesture and the friendship that had developed between them. He added that he hoped Kioko would receive the contribution in the spirit in which it was given as he begins his journey into politics.

Tom Daktari Adds a Prado to the Donation

Tom’s support for Kioko went beyond the cash contribution. The comedian also gifted Kioko a Prado to help facilitate his campaign activities as he prepares to traverse Mavoko and engage with voters ahead of the 2027 General Election.

“And I have also gifted him the car to support him,” Tom said.

The vehicle is expected to provide logistical support as Kioko takes his campaign to different parts of the constituency.

Meanwhile, Tom Daktari’s contribution was among several donations made during Kioko’s candidature unveiling, which also brought together friends, entertainers and other supporters.

Terence Creative contributed Ksh500,000 towards Kioko’s campaign, while his best friend, Motilink James, donated Ksh350,000.

Kifalme Entertainment also contributed Ksh100,000, adding to the funds raised as Kioko formally launched his political bid.

Sammy Kioko Declares Mavoko MP Bid

During the event, Kioko officially announced his intention to contest the Mavoko parliamentary seat in the 2027 General Election.

He said his decision was informed by his interactions with the people he hopes to represent as he formally declared his candidature.

“On this day, September 11, 2026, I stand before you with a lot of humility, gratitude and a great sense of responsibility. I have listened, I have walked with you, and I am ready to take the next step. I, Sammy Kioko, officially declare my candidature for Member of Parliament, Mavoko Constituency,” Sammy said.

Kioko also unveiled Mbele Pazuri” as his campaign slogan.

The comedian further thanked his friends, family, community members, and other supporters who attended the event and stood behind his political ambitions.

“I want to thank you all for coming as friends, family, and community. I thank you all,” he said.
