TSC Exposes Fake Circular Claiming Teacher Deployment Has Been Scrapped

The Teachers Service Commission (TSC) has warned teachers and the public against a fake circular claiming that the deployment of primary school teachers to secondary and junior secondary schools has been discontinued.

The Commission said the document circulating online is misleading and fake.“Please note that the information is not only misleading but fake,” TSC said.

The Commission urged the public to disregard the notice and rely on its official communication channels for accurate information.

TSC specifically pointed to TSC KENYA on Facebook and @TSC_KE on X as its official communication channels.

Fake TSC Circular Claims Deployment Process Was Cancelled 

The fake document is titled “Discontinuation of the Teacher Deployment Process” and is dated September 8, 2026.

It claims that the Commission had reviewed its teacher staff deployment framework and decided to end the existing deployment process.

The notice refers to deploying serving primary school teachers with higher qualifications, including diplomas and degrees, to secondary and junior secondary schools.

Circular Claims Applications Had Been Terminated

According to the fake notice, primary school teachers who participated in a document verification exercise conducted in 2026 were allegedly informed that the process had been terminated.

It further claims that applications verified during or before the exercise should be considered unsuccessful.

The document also states that any pending applications, shortlisted candidates or processing lists for deployment had been nullified.

It also claims that Sub-County, County, or Regional offices would not receive, process, or consider any new deployment applications.

The fake circular further alleges that all ongoing vetting and verification exercises related to the deployment had been suspended indefinitely.

Fake Notice Mentions Teachers Who Had Already Reported

The document contains an exception for teachers who had allegedly received official Commission deployment letters and formally reported to their newly assigned institutions before the date of the circular.

It claims such teachers would remain at their current stations without disruption. TSC says higher qualifications remain recognised. The fake circular also contains a section on career progression and higher qualifications.

It claims that teachers who have acquired higher academic and professional qualifications would continue to be considered for upward movement through the existing Career Progression Guidelines (CPG) and competency-based progression advisories published by the Commission from time to time.
