Eric Omondi Breaks Silence on Kijana wa Airport’s Claims, Urges Him to Complete His Studies

Comedian Eric Omondi has responded to claims by Henry Omondi, popularly known as “Kijana wa Airport” or the “Adani airport boy,” that he was abandoned after being enrolled in school.
Henry rose to fame in July 2024 after a video of him protesting the proposed Adani takeover of Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (JKIA) went viral.
Eric Omondi and Member of Parliament Gathoni Wamuchomba later stepped in to support him. They enrolled him at Ndere Vocational Training Centre in Siaya County, where he began training as a mechanic.
Henry Claims He Was Sent Home
In a recorded video dated September 8, 2026, Henry accused Eric and Wamuchomba of abandoning him. He claimed that money had been raised to support him before he was taken to school but alleged that his fees had not been paid for the first and second terms.
He said he eventually left school because he could not continue studying without the required fees.
“My name is Henry Omondi. I am the young man who said Ruto has sold the airport.”
Henry claimed he tried to contact Eric, his teacher and his mother but could not reach Eric.
“Eric was not receiving my calls. My teacher and my mother also tried to reach him, but he did not receive the calls.”
He alleged that he was eventually sent home because his school fees had not been paid.
Eric Omondi Says Henry Left School on His Own
Eric has now disputed Henry’s account, saying the student was never sent away from school over unpaid fees. In a video recorded at Ndere Vocational Training Centre, Eric said Henry had been taken back to school several times and insisted that the institution had provided him with the support he needed.
“Here is Ndere. This is where he used to study. This is the second or third time that I want him to study.”
Eric said Henry was admitted to the institution on September 2, 2024, and received support from the school, including food. He also accused Henry of misleading people by claiming that he had been sent home because of unpaid fees.
“My one problem with him is lying to people that he was suspended from school, not suspended, that he was sent from school, that he hadn’t paid his school fees.”
Eric said Henry left the institution voluntarily and was later seen in Siaya town and other areas asking members of the public for money. He urged people who encounter Henry in town not to give him money but instead encourage him to return to school.
“So if anyone sees him in town, tell him to go back to school,” added Eric.
School Administration Gives Its Account
The school administration also gave an account of what happened. The school head said Henry was admitted on September 2, 2024, and received everything he needed from the institution, including food.
The administrator said Henry was never sent away from school by anyone. According to the school head, a watchman informed the administration that Henry wanted to leave the school.
When the watchman attempted to stop him, Henry allegedly ran out of the school towards the river. The watchman caught up with him and brought him back.
The school head also said Henry and his mother later contacted him and indicated that Henry would return to school. He added he also met Henry in Siaya town, where Henry made the same promise, but he never returned.

Eric Says Henry Is Close to Graduation
Eric said Henry has only a few months left before completing his training and urged him to return to school.
“He is supposed to graduate in March. Come and get a job.”
Eric said he and others had also arranged opportunities for young people to secure mechanical jobs after completing their training. He urged Henry to focus on completing his studies instead of staying in town.
“We have even organized mechanical jobs for him.”
Eric said he wants Henry to complete his course and graduate, describing it as a positive outcome after the young man’s rise to fame.
“He should graduate and wear that gown. That will be a positive testimony in front of God and us.
