12 Youths Arrested After Attempting to Block Rachel Ruto’s Convoy

Twelve youths have been arrested in Siaya after allegedly attempting to block a convoy carrying First Lady Rachel Ruto shortly after a women’s economic empowerment event in the county.

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, following the conclusion of the function held at the Siaya KMTC grounds.

According to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the group attempted to force its way through a secured gate as Rachel Ruto’s convoy headed towards a designated landing and take-off site.

“As the convoy proceeded towards the designated landing and take-off site, a group of rowdy youth allegedly attempted to force their way through a secured gate, obstructing the convoy and hurling stones at police officers manning the entrance,” the DCI said.
